University of Windsor Alumni Magazine

Spring 2013

From September 2013 until April 2014, the University of Windsor will commemorate five decades of education, creativity, and innovation with an alumni family that is now more than 110,000 strong.

This fall, we will welcome the first class of the next half-century who will experience a revitalized campus that is being transformed to meet the aspirations of students, faculty and staff, and the needs of our community. This spring will mark the official grand opening of the Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation, and the beginning of the construction and renovation of our downtown campus.

The success of our first 50 years and the transformation now underway for our future have been enriched by our community, our donors and friends, countless volunteers and support from all levels of government. It is the efforts of all of you that are enabling our University to do things that are making a difference in our world.

For example, in this issue of VIEW, we examine how a new Masters program meets the growing need for oncology nurses who provide highly specialized care for patients. You’ll also travel to the frigid waters along the north shore of Baffin Island where research on fish migration is assisting commercial fisheries in Inuit communities. In this issue we also welcome the new President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Mike Bates. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus this fall and sharing in a celebration that recognizes how our dynamic heritage has helped pave the way for a very vibrant future for the University of Windsor.
