Roaming bake sale to benefit African Diaspora Youth Conference

Students will cross the campus starting at 9:30 a.m. today—Monday, March 23—to sell baked goods in support of the 2015 African Diaspora Youth Conference.

Scheduled for May 7 to 9, the conference is for secondary school students interested in learning about the African Diaspora and the role it has played in their development. The conference has been a life-changing experience for many attendees. It provides a forum for students to discuss with their peers the concerns they face as youth growing up in a North American society.

A second, larger fundraiser this week is a dinner March 27 at the Caribbean Centre, 2410 Central Avenue. It offers a choice of island cuisine—jerk chicken rice, peas and salad—or all-you-can-eat pasta. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
