Christmas in the air at the Holiday Art Show

Cheer was on display Thursday, November 26, at the Holiday Craft Show hosted by the Aboriginal Education Centre. Local artists and businesses showcased their wares to staff and students looking for that perfect gift for themselves and everyone on their holiday shopping lists.

Carol Davison, head of the English department, was happy to see the set-up when she stopped by the CAW Student Centre.

“This is the thing I love,” she said, adding that she planned to purchase multiple items for herself and others.

The event marked the first promotion to a University audience for many vendors, including Eastberry Soaps and Bath. Owner Stacey Norbury said sales were going well for her online, homemade-based business.

Adele Steinberg has spent 35 years perfecting her craft making everything from jewelry to greeting cards. Individual pieces can take her up to four days to complete, but with it all made by hand, she takes much pride in her work.

At the holiday craft show, there were all kinds of pieces—from homemade grooming and bath products to specialty items that you can find only through local artists. People bought luxury items for their friends or a yummy homemade treat for themselves, but whomever they were shopping for, holiday joy was in the air.
