Lancer athletes bring home the bronze from provincial tournament

The Lancers brought home medals in seven events at the Ontario University Athletics track and field championships this past weekend. Remarkably, they were all bronze.

Rookie Mandy Brunet claimed third place in triple jump, Windsor’s only woman medallist.

On the men’s side, Anthony Atkinson won bronze medals in the weight throw and shot put events, one of three Lancer men to win two medals.

Sprinter Sesan Akerewusi had a personal best time of 6.85 seconds to finish third in the 60m, and joined teammates Marcus Penaloza, Jarrod Cullen, and Tanner Sleep for bronze in the 4x200m relay.

Middle distance runner Cole Hannam took the bronze in the 1000m and the 4x800m relay with teammates Mitchell Paterson, Andrew Nebel, and Nick D’Alessandro.

Overall, both the men’s and women’s squads finished fifth in the team standings. Find more info at goLancers.ca.
