Humanities fellow to host play discussion on millennial representation

A university-style book club will focus on representation of the millennial generation.

The Humanities Research Group is presenting its fourth Humanities Week event, a staged reading of Erin Shields’ Millennial Malcontent, Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Hatch Studio Theatre, Jackman Dramatic Art Centre. The discussion to follow will explore social posting, sexual frankness, and others of the play’s themes, led by drama professor Michelle MacArthur, this year HRG fellow.

Dr. MacArthur has spent almost a full year pursuing several projects related to representations of millennials in arts and culture. As part of her fellowship, MacArthur is able to dedicate the time necessary to complete major research and creative projects and prepare these results for presentations such as this one.

The HRG fellowship program will continue to foster research in the humanities with a new fellowship competition. The deadline is Nov. 30; all information about how to apply can be found on the HRG’s website.
