Bio:
Dr. Misener joined the faculty in July 2007. She teaches in the areas of sport management and sport sociology. Her research interests lie the areas of social impacts of sporting events; sport and events as tool for community development; neoliberal discourses of sport; policy analyses and cross-cultural comparative politics of leisure; and power relations in sport and leisure. Dr. Misener has published articles in Avante, Current Issues in Tourism, Journal of Legal Aspects in Sport, Journal of Sport Management, and Managing Leisure. In addition to her academic activities, she actively involved in sport as a National Gymnastics Judge, and can often be found outdoors cycling, hiking, or rock climbing.

research interests lie the areas of social impacts of sporting events; sport and events as a leveraging tool for community development and sport participation; neoliberal discourses of sport; partnerships in physical activity promotion; policy analyses and cross-cultural comparative politics of leisure; and power relations in sport and leisure. Dr. Misener has published articles in Avante, Current Issues in Tourism, Journal of Legal Aspects in Sport, Journal of Sport Management, Managing Leisure and Journal of Management and Organisation. She is a regular contributor to the North American Society for Sport Management Conference and North American Society for Sociology of Sport Conference.
