Scholar to discuss legacy of Malcolm X

Independent scholar Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, a journalist, historian, and activist will discuss “Malcolm X and the Struggle for Justice and Brotherhood” in a free public presentation Feb. 29.

Malcolm X, later El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, was an advocate for Black empowerment and a prominent figure in the civil rights movement. Inspired by his life and example, Muhammad accepted Islam in 1986.

His talk is sponsored by Assumption University, Sandwich First Baptist Church, and St. Clair College. It is set for 7 p.m. Thursday in room A3216 of the college’s main building at 2000 Talbot Rd. West.
