For those who want to study Music and another subject, the University offers a Bachelor of Arts Double Major, Four-Year Honours Degree, which allows a student to take two majors in one program.
Permission from both Music and the other area of study is required to take this program.
No audition is required for the degree; but it is necessary to audition for any ensemble courses or if you want to take private lessons (200 level) on your instrument.
Students must pass the entrance placement tests for first year theory and basic skills. Two of the core course requirements for the BA in Music program (32-112: Music Theory I & 32-223: Basic Skills I) require a passing mark on a prerequisite Theory Placement Test. This test covers a variety of Music Theory Rudiments (RCM Grade 2 & 3 Rudiments). A sample version of this placement test can be found here Sample Theory Test.
