Student Success Centre taking STEPS out on campus

Free 30-minute information sessions will supplement the traditional hour-long workshops offered through the Skills to Enhance Personal Success (STEPS) program.

Both programs help students to develop the skills they need to succeed at University, says transition services intern Laura Prada, from memorization strategies and time management to exam preparation and effective study habits.

“It is a friendly and safe environment where students are invited to ask questions and share their experiences as well as their struggles,” she says.

The new half-hour Quick STEPS sessions are offered at 2 p.m. Mondays this semester:

  • in the International Student Centre, room 206, Laurier Hall, on January 20, February 24 and March 17;
  • in the Leddy Library, behind the Williams Café, on February 10 and March 10; and
  • in room 329, Odette Building,  on January 27, February 3, and March 24.

“We understand students have a busy schedule so we have created shorter information sessions for them around campus,” Prada says. “These are only 30 minutes long and they are free for all students.”

Students can book one-on-one appointments with the STEPS coordinators by purchasing a $15 membership that also entitles them to attend the complete sessions. Walk-ins are welcome for all 50 minute-long sessions at $5 per session.
