Volunteers sought for adaptive bike camp

Riding a bike can be a path toward independence for kids with special needs, and the organizers of a training program hope to recruit enough volunteers to meet the demand.

So far, 40 youngsters have registered for the iCan Bike Camp next week at Tecumseh Arena, says Cynthia Connell, chaplain at Canterbury College.

“It will be a shame if it has to be cancelled because there aren’t enough volunteers,” she says.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and attend an orientation session on July 23 at the arena, located at 12021 McNorton St. Secondary school students can qualify for up to 40 hours towards their community involvement requirement.
