Anyone interested in all of the top quality research being generated by the Odette School of Business will want to bookmark a new blog being created by one of the school’s professors.

The Odette Research Review is a being launched today by Alan Richardson, the school’s Odette Research Chair.

“This will be a great way to increase the visibility of research we’re doing here and to help foster the research culture we’re developing at Odette,” said Dr. Richardson, an accounting professor whose areas of expertise include performance measurement and sustainability reporting.

The blog’s content will include a mix of media, including video and photos, as well as articles that highlight recent research publications in scholarly journals, presentations, and grants and internal awards that have been received.

There will be real-time items, as well as links to publications like the school’s semi-annual report, which contains an article on the 50 most cited papers in the last 50 years to coincide with university’s half-century celebrations.

A constant theme throughout will be Odette’s connections to the area’s business community, Richardson said.

“We cover all of the fundamental areas of business and there’s a very strong community engagement dimension to many of the things we do,” he replied when asked to comment on the breadth of research subject matter at Odette.  “A lot of the research we do is very much tied to local issues.”

The blog format allows people to comment on the work being done at Odette and to establish a dialogue between faculty and the users of research, Richardson said.

“Given that the school is developing new graduate programs, it’s important to establish the fact that the faculty are doing quality research and have a great deal of expertise in certain areas,” he added.
