The Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) has granted accreditation to all University of Windsor teacher education programs for the next seven years.
The accreditation process, which all initial teacher education programs must repeat on a periodic basis, ensures that each program upholds the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards of the teaching profession as well as aligning subject matter with Ontario curriculum and policy.
An OCT panel reviews course content, faculty qualifications, program structure, practicum requirements, resources, learning materials and more as part of its determination.
“We are proud to have our teacher education programs fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers until December 2032,” says Dr. Ken Montgomery, dean of the Faculty of Education.
“This accreditation is a testament to the quality of teaching and learning in our BEd programs and the efforts of all those who worked on the accreditation process.”
All initial teacher education programs in Ontario must be accredited through the OCT.
UWindsor’s concurrent and consecutive primary/junior and intermediate/senior BEd programs as well as the multi-session technological education BEd and diploma program are now accredited until Dec. 2032.
