In the service-learning course, Beginning Time Ab/Original Teachings, teacher candidates participate in a series of learning experiences that provide clear distinctions between the culture of the original peoples and popular mystical and mythical concepts of "Aboriginal" people. This course is open to candidates
The course serves to expand teacher candidates' familiarity with and knowledge about the culture of the Anishinaabe people, and provides the opportunity to think through and learn from traditional teaching and learning modalities.
Teacher candidates participate in a two-day and one half-day cultural camp in a rural setting outside of Windsor in which they learn about traditional practices that have been passed down from generation to generation.
