Group Fitness Classes

The Toldo Lancer Centre's extensive facilities allow us to offer a diverse range of group fitness programming, with multiple classes running simultaneously. We feature a dedicated spin room, a dedicated martial arts room, and two large multipurpose rooms.

As part of the University of Windsor, TLC provides flexible programming with new classes each semester, ensuring fresh and exciting options throughout the year. Students, staff and members can view the current offerings and schedule through the Lancer Recreation Registration website.

Lancer Fit Classes

LancerFit classes are group fitness sessions automatically included for all UWindsor students and in Full-Facility Memberships for faculty, full-time employees, alumni, and the community. Access includes HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), Run Crew, Spin , Kickboxing, Dance Fusion classes and many more! Lancer Fit classes are a fun and exciting way to stay active and meet new people in our vibrant community!

It's a dynamic HIIT and Strength class that combines high-intensity interval training with targeted strength exercises. This class is designed to provide participants with an effective and efficient workout that challenges both cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. Join us for an energetic session that will push your limits and help you achieve your fitness goals. HIIT is a Lancer Fit class and is free to students and those who possess a valid membership or All Class Pass.

As an official Hyrox Affiliate, Lancer Recreation is proud to host Hyrox group training sessions. Absolutely free to students from Jan12th-Feb19th - we'd love to have you come sweat with us and experience the sport of fitness. Space is limited to so register and let's get after it!!

An action-packed workout that combines a series of basic traditional kickboxing punches and kicks in a series of combinations.  This class improves strength, muscle tone and endurance.  It is a great workout for any participant looking for a challenge !!!! Kickboxing is a Lancer Fit class and free for students and for those who possess a valid membership.

Want to train like a fighter while getting a great workout? This class introduces the basics of MMA, including footwork, punches, kicks, defense, and simple takedowns. You’ll learn proper technique in a fun, supportive environment while building strength, confidence, and practical self-defence skills. No experience needed — all levels welcome!  MMA Striking Fundamentals is a Lancer Fit Class and is free for students and those who possess a valid membership.

Had a hard week of sitting a desk?  Ya, us too.  Come spend some time with us unlocking those tight muscles through a fun dynamic class that addresses the full body.  This class will also get your core fired up!!  Pilates-Core is a Lancer Fit class and is free to students and those who possess a valid membership.

In a 30-minute high-energy stationary ride we will listen to music tailored to you! TLC Club Ride (Tempo, Lights, Choreo) A unique spin on your typical cycling class.  Come out for a fun ride that introduces beginners to various components of cycling fitness.  Learn about proper tempo and how to "feel" the right resistance all while experiencing great music and lights!

Unwind & Align is a gentle, all-levels yoga class designed to help you release tension and reconnect with your body. Through mindful movement and longer-held stretches, you’ll explore alignment, breath, and ease—leaving class feeling grounded, refreshed, and deeply centered. All are welcome. Participants must register to attend this program. This is a Lancer Fit class and is free to students and those who possess a valid membership.

Zumba is a high-energy dance workout that keeps your body moving and feels like a party. Set to upbeat Latin and international music, it’s a blend of the basics: salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton and cumbia. With easy-to-follow moves, Zumba gets your heart pumping and your body grooving while having a blast. No experience is needed; just bring your enthusiasm and let the rhythm take over!

Instructional Classes 

For those seeking a fun and motivating environment to enhance their skills, Lancer Recreation’s Instructional Fitness Classes are a great option. Instructional Fitness Classes listed below require additional fees for all community, employee, and student memberships due to the advanced level of instruction.

Hyrox Team training is here! Workouts that build power, cardio and teach the techniques needed to run your best race!  Our Hyrox Team Training program focus on developing the systems engaged in the sport of fitness. You'll get stronger, leaner and learn how to work out smarter. Each workout will build on the previous session and the best part, you'll be in a community of like-minded athletes all pushing towards the best version of themselves! These 6-week programs include 2 classes per week and advanced registration into our spring and summer Hyrox simulations.

The karate class is a traditional Okinawan based system called Goju Ryu (hard and soft style). The class focuses on fitness as well as fundamentals of the art with opportunities of rank advancements and competitions. Our club or Dojo is called Takeshima Dojo and is instructed by Kenji Takeshima Sensei. A 2016, 2002 World Karate Organization Gold medalist and 1998 Bronze medalist with 35+ years training experience and 20 years teaching / coaching experience. Wing Chun! Learn the martial art made famous by the legendary Bruce Lee, featured in many Ip Man movies, and seen in many popular TV shows like Green Arrow. But unlike the movies, Wing Chun is suitable for everyone of any gender with no experience – in fact, it was developed to teach beginners a complete martial arts system in the least amount of time possible! Come learn in a great, fun, and friendly environment and really get to understand the how and why of martial arts.

Dedicated to empowering female lifters, Lancers Lift is a 6-week program dedicated to teaching women the foundation of compound movements. We will master the basic hip hinge, push, and pull movements before any compound movements are introduced to ensure we perfect our form and technique. This will ensure we get the most efficient muscle contractions to generate force and gain strength. Once a strong foundation has been established, we will transfer our learning to compound exercises. The split will consist of an anterior chain (quads and chest) day and a posterior chain (back and hamstrings) day. By the end of the six weeks, you should feel comfortable walking into the gym squatting, benching, and deadlifting with full knowledge of how to properly execute the exercises.
