May 1, 2023
On behalf of the Search Committee, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ray Darling as the new University Registrar.

We would also like to thank Lorraine Chandler for stepping into the acting Registrar role for the last 2.5 years and for her leadership and contributions.

Mr. Darling brings extensive experience in higher education administration, with a focus on registrarial services and strategic enrolment management Currently, he is an Associate Consultant for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) where he provides mentoring, coaching and consultation support to Registrars and other higher education administrators across North America. A seasoned administrator, he has held the role of Registrar at three previous universities, most recently at the University of Guelph (2017 – 2023), and prior to that, at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. His depth of experience leading as a Registrar set Darling apart as an ideal candidate to step into this role at the University of Windsor. He brings a breadth of skill in post-secondary strategic enrolment management, admissions, recruitment, information system implementation, and operational leadership and management along with extensive experience optimizing digital tools to provide exceptional student experiences.

Mr. Darling received his M.A. in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature from the University of Guelph. He has also completed professional courses, including Strategic Enrolment Management from the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and the Senior University Administrator’s Course offered by the Centre for Higher Education Research and Development. His interdisciplinary background combined with his skill as an administrator with a creative mindset will be a terrific asset to University of Windsor in this role.

The committee was impressed by Ray’s depth of experience as a Registrar, and his people-first approach to leadership and service provision. He is strategic, empathetic, relational and effective in his work with a demonstrated record of success as a Registrar.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the search committee members for their time spent working with KBRS Executive Search on this critical hire for the university.

Mr. Darling will begin his role as Registrar on May 15, 2023.  I’m so pleased to be able to welcome him to campus. He will spend the summer months orienting himself to the University of Windsor, meeting key stakeholders and setting priorities for the upcoming year.
