LinkedIn is now the online meeting place for professionals to connect and interact with their colleagues, peers, as well as other alumni and friends from their alma mater. The University of Windsor’s Alumni Association is encouraging alumni and students to network themselves online by joining the University of Windsor Alumni LinkedIn group.
This is a private group available to any current students and alumni of the University of Windsor. LinkedIn provides several advantages for young professionals and students alike looking to make a splash in the working world. Users can create a professional profile, and use these profiles to highlight their experiences and skills to potential employers.
When you join the University of Windsor Alumni group, you have access to alumni, staff, and students already registered (currently almost 2,900). The new group builds upon the existing connection you share as Windsor graduates and provides a forum for questions and discussion you may have related to your field of study. Have a question for a mechanical engineer or want to meet someone who works at your dream employer? LinkedIn allows you to find individuals that can help your career by focusing on the shared connection of being an alumnus from the University of Windsor.
The networking doesn’t stop at students and young professionals. Alumni of the university can now join the group and connect with former classmates and friends. This is a great way to catch up with people you haven’t seen in years and find out what they are doing now. The group is also a good place to find out what’s happening with your Alumni Association and can provide details about how you can get involved.
The introduction of the LinkedIn group adds to the array of social networking sites operated by the University. LinkedIn will join the University’s Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Uwindsor) and Twitter feed (@UWindsor) to provide students, alumni and faculty with up-to-date information and interaction with the University.
