Construction work scheduled to start the week of May 27 will close California Avenue to through traffic from Wyandotte to College streets.

The city will replace sewers and water mains and rebuild the street surface, including curbs and sidewalks, says city engineer Paul Mourad. He advises people heading to campus to seek an alternate route, although access will be maintained to buildings on California Avenue.

Mourad expects the work to be completed by the end of August.
