Fewer than 37 percent of people in Windsor-Essex eat enough fruits and vegetables. The United Way has identified access to healthy food as a key priority.

Its programs help to address food security in Windsor-Essex:

• It funds 25 community gardens, including the campus Community Garden Project, yielding tonnes of fresh produce to share.
• Last year, its partners held 59 cooking workshops teaching residents to prepare nutritious, low-cost meals.
• Food banks distribute staples to growing numbers of families in need.

The campus campaign has distributed an ePledge form to all UWindsor employees, making it easy to give online or through payroll deduction. Contributors have a chance to be entered into a raffle that offers a number of great prizes. Find out more on the campaign website.
