Puck set to drop on Lancer hockey season

The Ontario University Athletics hockey season begins this week and Lancer teams are ready for the face-off.

The outlook is positive one for the Lancer men, as they are returning a number of key players from last year’s OUA bronze medal squad, including the league’s defenseman of the year Kenny Bradford and rookie of the year Dylan Denomme.

The team opens the season Wednesday, October 7, hosting the Guelph Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. at South Windsor Arena. Tickets are $8, $5 for youths and seniors, with the doors opening one hour prior to the puck drop.

Lancer women’s hockey enjoyed a solid 2014-15 season that saw the team earn a sixth straight berth in the post-season. Fourth-year forwards and co-captains Erinn Noseworthy and Jillian Rops will need to provide scoring punch.

Windsor opens the season Thursday against the Western Mustangs in London, and will not play in the friendly confines of South Windsor Arena until October 24, when it hosts the Toronto Varsity Blues.
