PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical advice, support, troubleshooting and problem resolution/repair for specialized equipment and technologies used in research, teaching, and administrative offices for the Faculty of Science, primarily in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department to ensure continued operations.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or 3-year college diploma as Electronics Technician.
• 2-years work experience in a technology service field
• Troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic, mechanical, instrumentation interfacing, and electronics driven systems.
• Ability to read technical schematics.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, software, security, data recovery, back-up procedures, networking issued, wireless networking issues.
• Detailed knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems,
• Knowledge of script, compilation, and web scripting software (Drupal)
• Familiarity with computer-interfaced scientific instrumentation / analytical equipment
• Good multi-tasking and organizational skills with excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both as a team member, independently and prioritize work
• Knowledge of electrical safety
PREFERRED QUALIFIATIONS:
• Familiarity with ITS and its operations and procedures
• Familiarity with chemistry and biochemistry instrumentation, chemistry lab safety procedures and WHMIS training
