Employee Recognition Awards

The Employee Recognition Awards program has been designed to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of employees to the achievement of the mission and vision of the University. The awards reinforce the importance of service, innovation, teamwork, leadership, engagement, safety and community involvement. The program consists of eight (8) awards.

Overview

This award recognizes the contributions that employees make to foster a culture of health and safety at the University.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

  • Full-time and part-time permanent employees.
  • Team of two or more permanent employees and/or departmental health and safety committees.

Essential Criteria

The individual/team:

  • Has demonstrated their commitment to health and safety in the workplace. This commitment goes beyond the requirements of their role, is proactive and preventative.
  • Works toward the continuous improvement of health and safety at the University. For instance, has taken specific actions to prevent injuries, occupational illnesses and/or unsafe conditions/practices.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive

Overview

This award recognizes excellence in leadership involving people, events, programs, projects and/or teams.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time permanent employees.

Essential Criteria

The individual:

  • Is an excellent role model.
  • Fosters pride in UWindsor.
  • Inspires others to work collaboratively and creatively.
  • Demonstrates initiative.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Other criteria (optional)

The individual:

  • Leads an effective team to achieve results.
  • Is actively involved in the mentorship and development of others.

Overview

This award recognizes employees who have developed/applied new approaches/solutions that have had a positive impact on a department and/or the University as a whole.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

  • Full-time and part-time permanent employees.
  • Team of two or more employees (the team can also include temporary and student employees).

Essential Criteria

The individual/team:

  • Has developed, revised and/or applied a system, tool, process, initiative and/or program that resulted in one or more of the following: enhanced service delivery, increased efficiencies, supported sustainability efforts, enhanced the work environment or the student experience, decreased organizational risks, and/or supported the campus beautification efforts.
  • Has had a positive impact on the department/University.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Overview

This award recognizes excellence in service and support provided to students, faculty, staff and/or other stakeholders.

Number of Awards

Maximum of two awards are given annually.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time permanent employees with more than 5 years of service.

Essential Criteria

The individual:

  • Has consistently demonstrated the provision of the highest level of service to students and/or other stakeholders.
  • Has demonstrated high standards of professionalism.
  • Is a role model for the provision of excellent services.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Other criteria (optional)

The individual:

  • Has demonstrated creativity and initiative to improve the service experience.
  • Exhibits a desire to enhance their knowledge and skills to improve the service experience.

This award recognizes excellence in service and support provided to students, faculty, staff and/or other stakeholders.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

Team of two or more employees (the team can include temporary and student employees).  

Essential Criteria

The team:

  • Has demonstrated the provision of the highest level of service to students and/or other stakeholders.
  • Has demonstrated high standards of professionalism.
  • Works collaboratively, encouraging participation and openness while sharing ideas, responsibility and skills.
  • Is a role model for the provision of excellent services.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Other criteria (optional)

The team:

  • Has demonstrated creativity and initiative to improve the service experience.
  • Exhibits a desire to expand their knowledge and skills to improve the service experience.

Overview

This award recognizes individuals new to the University for excellence in service and support provided to students, faculty, staff and/or other stakeholders.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time permanent employees with 5 or less years of service.

Essential Criteria

The individual:

  • Has consistently demonstrated the provision of the highest level of service to students and/or other stakeholders.
  • Has demonstrated high standards of professionalism.
  • Is a role model for the provision of excellent services.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Other criteria (optional)

The individual:

  • Has demonstrated creativity and initiative to improve the service experience.
  • Exhibits a desire to enhance their knowledge and skills to improve the service experience.

Overview

This award recognizes individuals who have had a positive impact on others.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time permanent employees.

Essential Criteria

The individual:

  • Has demonstrated one of the following: performed a special act of kindness or service that has had a positive impact on others (i.e. students, colleagues, the community); made a positive impact through a campus “call to action” activity designed to address the needs of individuals, families and/or the community; and/or improved the morale of others through their actions. Their efforts and contributions have been beyond their job responsibilities.
  • Has demonstrated sincere cooperation, a positive attitude and an exceptional willingness to assist others.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Overview

This award recognizes individuals who continuously demonstrate that they are UWindsor Proud and/or are excellent ambassadors of the University in the community.

Number of Awards

One award is given annually.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time permanent employees.

Essential Criteria

The individual:

  • Has demonstrated one of the following: actively supported and promoted the University to others, been a Windsor Proud role model (inspiring, motivating and communicating with others), enhanced the image of the University through interactions with others; and/or acted as an ambassador for UWindsor as a great place to work, learn and grow. Their efforts and contributions have been beyond their regular job duties.
  • Promotes a work environment that is respectful, collegial and supportive.

Who can be nominated?
Eligible University of Windsor employees can be nominated for the Employee Recognition Awards. Please refer to each award listed above for the eligibility criteria.
 
Who can nominate?
University of Windsor students, faculty and staff can nominate eligible employees. Employees cannot self-nominate. When nominating a team, the nominator cannot be included in the list of team members being nominated.
 
How to nominate?
The nomination process consists of:
  • a web-based nomination form completed by the nominator created in Qualtrics (click here to access all of the nomination forms)
  • two (2) letters provided by individuals who support the nomination. Each letter of support should not exceed two (2) pages in length and can include a compilation of testimonials from various stakeholders
