Poetry Talk by Samuel Cooper
Monday 2 April, 2018
4:00 - 5:00 PM
CHN 2101

INTERSTICES: Contemporary Poetry & Uneven Development This talk will discuss long poems by Jeff Derksen (http://talonbooks.com/books/the-vestiges) and Juliana Spahr (https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/juliana-spahr) that take up our neoliberal present. The unstable and ephemeral spatial world we now inhabit is most visible in the constant and rapid redevelopment of big cities, but its logic extends all the way to the abstract “globalised” world, as well as into the affective dimension of how we interact in and “read” spaces to make meaning in our everyday life. University of Windsor former exchange student Samuel Cooper is currently completing a PhD at University of Nottingham, UK.

Sponsored by the Department of English.

Open To All.
