Hongwei Xu is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Odette School of Business, University of Windsor. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Before joining Odette, he was Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise at INSEAD where he taught in the MBA program.

His research focuses on the social and institutional origins of new organizations, and the social, economic, and political consequences of organizational diversity in local communities. His Ph.D. dissertation was honourable mention for the OMT Best Dissertation Paper Award at the Academy of Management. His research has been featured at Financial Times, Forbes, The New Yorker, and Business Times.

Dr. Xu is a regular advisor and investor to early stage companies based in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta, and Mumbai. He taught entrepreneurial leadership to government officials in Abu Dhabi, and advised Singapore parliament members on boosting entrepreneurial culture. He provides strategy and leadership training to senior managers of Fortune 500 companies in China and of leading Chinese homegrown companies.
