Why should I volunteer?

Student volunteers are a vital part of the Job Fair team that help the event to function effectively.

Moreover, aside from helping to ensure that the event itself is successful, students who volunteer have the opportunity to meet and network with employers from a privileged position. As a volunteer, before you open your mouth or hand over a resume, you’ve already demonstrated to participating employers that you have initiative and positive employable qualities. As an added bonus, volunteers will receive a formal letter of thanks from the Job Fair organizing committee.

What do volunteers do?

Volunteers help to represent the University of Windsor, St. Clair College, and the Job Fair organizing committee by maintaining a positive demeanor at all times. In general, volunteers should be ready to respond to any reasonable need or request an employer or representative might have. For example, volunteers help to unload vehicles, carry displays, organize materials for displays, answer questions, and get water and coffee. Volunteers may also assist students and alumni attending the fair by answering a variety of questions about the event.

Volunteers must have a “can-do” attitude: As a volunteer, always think, “What can we do?” Help find answers and solutions to problems, not reasons “why not.”

Again, volunteers will have the opportunity to leave lasting, favourable impressions with participating employer representatives.
