Author Nino Ricci will conduct his inaugural reading in this term as UWindsor writer-in-residence Thursday, October 6. He had previously served as writer-in-residence in 2005-06, and received an honorary doctorate from the University in 2012.

Ricci’s first novel, Lives of the Saints, won a host of awards, including the Governor General’s Award for Fiction. It became the first volume of a trilogy that was adapted as a 2005 television miniseries starring Sophia Loren.

Ricci is also the author of Testament, winner of the Trillium Award, and The Origin of Species, which earned his a second Governor General’s Award. His most recent novel, Sleep, is a national bestseller and in June won the Canadian Authors’ Association Award for Fiction.

His reading Thursday is free and open to the public. It begins at 4 p.m. in Katzman Lounge, Vanier Hall.
