The Lancer women’s basketball team defeated the host Regina Cougars 66-57 Sunday to win Windsor’s third straight Bronze Baby Trophy as Canadian Interuniversity Sport champions.
Guard Korissa Williams was named the tournament’s most valuable player. She told a national audience watching on the Score network that it is “an honour” to play on the squad, which went undefeated through the season. Williams scored 46 points through three games at the tournament.

A group of students from the Odette School of Business are hoping people will put their otherwise worthless knowledge to good use Friday. They have organized Trivia 4 a Cause as a fundraiser for the United Way/Centraide of Windsor Essex County.
The event will pit teams of four in competition and runs 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 15, in the CAW Student Centre. It offers a $200 grand prize to the winning team.
Three recitals this weekend mark the start of a total of 16 solo recitals performed by third-year and graduating music students at venues around Windsor this spring.
Most of these events will be juried recitals performed for credit, but some students will perform purely for the experience. Each recital incorporates one hour of music, the repertoire representing a variety of styles and periods.

Both graduates of the University of Windsor, Gervais (MA 1972) and Hall (BA 1976, MA creative writing 1978) will discuss the latter’s work as part of the “Having Words” series of author talks hosted by the Arts Council Windsor and Region. The series promotes informal discussion about the craft of writing, exploring the challenges and joys related to poetry; events are free and open to the public.
The two-time reigning titlist University of Windsor Lancers are favoured to repeat as Canadian Interuniversity Sport women’s basketball champions, the league announced as it released team seedings for the Bronze Baby tournament.
The Lancers, who claimed the first Bronze Baby Trophy in program history two years ago on home court and were crowned again last season in Calgary, earned the top seed for the 2013 national championship at the University of Regina, March 15 to 17.
The Lancers will open the tournament Friday at 1 p.m. against the wild-card Ottawa Gee-Gees.
