Panel to consider religious controversies and connections

A conversation Tuesday, Nov. 7, among three religious leaders will explore the Christian Bible, anti-Semitism, and their faith traditions.

Congregation Beth El will host the “A Catholic, a Jew, and a Convert: Controversies and Connections,” starting at 7 p.m. on the Zoom video conferencing platform and in its synagogue at 2525 Mark Ave.

The event is co-sponsored by Assumption University and Congregation Shaarey Zedek of Southfield, Mich. and will feature panellists:

  • John Cappucci, principal of Assumption University and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Religion and Conflict;
  • Devorah Fick, cantor at Congregation Beth El, daughter of a Baptist minister, and a 2015 convert to Judaism; and
  • Aaron Starr, rabbi at Congregation Shaarey Zedek and a senior rabbinic fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute.
