Protect your electronic assets with tips from IT Services

Our electronic devices are one of the most important tools for personal and work life. We are reliant on our devices to access confidential online data and store valuable work and personal information.

In a recent survey, only one in five Canadians feel they are prepared to handle a cyber-attack. Taking measures to secure and care for your devices can help mitigate cyber threats and keep your personal and work information safe. Information Technology Services offers tips below to maintain cybersecurity on your mobile device and care for your computer.

Mobile device cybersecurity tips:

  • Enable the security PIN (Personal Identification Number) to unlock your phone.
  • Set your mobile device to auto-lock when inactive.
  • Allow automatic updates for the operating system and update your apps when prompted.
  • Download from trusted sources for mobile apps and games: the App Store, iTunes, or Google Play. When accessing public or free Wi-Fi, use University’s GlobalProtect VPN. (Required for University owned-devices.)
