Flu season is upon us. You can protect yourself — and others — by learning about the flu and recognizing the symptoms, says the November edition of Workplace Wellness E-Digest.

Published by the Department of Human Resources’ Office of Employee Engagement and Development, the newsletter offers information on recognizing the illness and preventing its spread.

The issue also acknowledges that November is Financial Literacy Month by sharing material on how to manage personal finances. Read the Workplace Wellness E-Digest.

Volleyball, men’s hockey to play at home this weekend

The men’s hockey team will host the Laurier Golden Hawks at South Windsor Arena on Friday to open varsity play at home this weekend. The squad will then face off Saturday against the Waterloo Warriors. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. and can be seen live on www.oua.tv.

Volleyball provides the only other Lancer action for Windsor fans, hosting the Ryerson Rams in the St. Denis Centre on Saturday. The women play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m.

Basketball is in Thunder Bay to meet the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday. The women play at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. Both games are available live on www.oua.tv. The Lancers will be back home to host Waterloo on Wednesday, November 23.

The women’s hockey team is on the road for a pair of games, Saturday at Queen’s to face the Gaels and Sunday playing the Ridgebacks of UOIT.

Session to offer suggestions for branding a new venture

Every new startup, venture or project will require some sort of branding. A free public session November 29 will focus on how trademarks can influence branding strategy and considerations for startups when developing their brands.

Jenna Wilson, a lawyer at the firm Dimock Stratton, will lead “What’s in a Name? Examining the Intersection between Branding and Trademarks,” in the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre.

The Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre) will host the event as part of its lunch and learn series. It starts at noon and registered attendees will receive lunch. Register on the centre’s website.
