Ron FoxcroftRon Foxcroft—inventor of the Fox 40 “pea-less” whistle—is the featured speaker in the Breakfast with Champions series March 27.

Whistle-blower to speak on secrets to success

While refereeing the gold-medal basketball game at the Montreal Olympics, Ron Foxcroft saw an obvious foul but could not signal a stop in play because his whistle was silenced by a pea jammed in the air hole.

The boos from the crowd inspired him to action, and Foxcroft invited a “pealess” whistle that has gone on to become a standard for amateur and professional sports, as well as numerous public safety agencies around the world.

Founder of the manufacturing company Fox 40 International and president of trucking firm Fluke Transport and Warehousing, Foxcroft will discuss the secrets to his success as the featured speaker in the next installment of the Odette School of Business Breakfast with Champions series, on Thursday, March 27.

The event is set for room 123, Odette Building, beginning with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m., with the presentation to follow at 8 a.m., and concluding by 9 a.m.

The Breakfast with Champions speaker series is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. RSVP by March 26 on a first-come, first-served basis to Barbara Barone at 519-971-3678 or e-mail bbarone@uwindsor.ca.
