The 1975 Lancer football team was dominant on the field, going undefeated during the seven-game season and setting a provincial record that still stands for fewest points allowed – just 34.
The squad will receive a Team Achievement Award at a reception Sunday, October 2, during induction ceremonies for the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame. The award honours Assumption Purple Raider or University of Windsor Lancer sports teams which have enjoyed the highest levels of success.
In addition to winning a Yates Cup championship, this team dressed nine divisional all-stars; six players and two coaches have earned membership in the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.
Sunday's reception will also feature the induction of athletes Jodi Beaugrand, Andy Buckstein and Jennifer (Graham) Schutz, and builder Richard Peddie into the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame. It is open to the public and will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Ambassador Auditorium, CAW Student Centre. All those interested in attending are asked to RSVP on the event Web site.
