An evening of poetry and music will focus on themes of wellness Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Green Bean Café.
The event is co-hosted by the Lancers Recover program, the Peer Support Centre, and UWindsor Pride.
Organizers invite UWindsor students to present original works or their favourite published pieces exploring such topics as hope, strength, support, mindfulness, coping strategies, storytelling, help seeking, self-reflexivity, and the positive influence of others. With an overall theme of wellness, the aim is to inspire, motivate, and experience the power of creative expression.
They ask presenters to avoid details of subjects that may be disturbing to audience members, such as traumatic events, suicide ideation, glorifying substance abuse, or violence — and request submission of pieces in advance so they may arrange appropriate resources and content warnings.
The event will run 7 to 10 p.m. at the café, located at 2320 Wyandotte St. West. To present, register at https://bit.ly/GBCEvent by Jan. 20. For those not presenting, no registration is needed.
The event is free to attend; food and coffee will be available for purchase.
