Social media, mobile devices, and networks have been changing the way students study, learn, and participate in classes, with more dramatic changes on the way, says Alec Couros.
An associate professor of educational technology and media at the University of Regina, he will deliver an opening keynote address during the UWindsor Campus Technology Day, May 16 in the CAW Student Centre.
In “Networks, Openness, and the Future of Education,” Dr. Couros will explore the meaning of buzzwords like open learning, open access resources, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to define emerging trends and how educators, administrators and technicians can create the best learning environments for their students.
Couros also holds the position of coordinator of information and communication technologies for Regina’s Faculty of Education, is chief openness officer of Open Thinking, and teaches the MOOC “Social media and open education.”
With a theme of “Connected Campus in a Connected World,” the seventh annual Campus Technology Day will bring together participants to discuss the impact technology has in enhancing learning, teaching, research and building community. Find a schedule for the day on the conference website.
