Session to offer information on gambling disorders

Gambling disorders affect hundreds of individuals each year and a workshop presented by Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare’s Centre for Problem Gambling and Digital Dependency will explain why — and how you can help.

The centre has been providing gambling-specific treatment since 1994. Its services are designed to help individuals experiencing gambling problems, as well as family and friends affected by problem gambling.

In the hour-long workshop, counsellor Danielle Loiselle will discuss:

  • What a gambling disorder is
  • Risk factors
  • Warning signs
  • Reasons why individuals gamble
  • Different forms of gambling
  • Gamification (combining of videogames and gambling and why this is important)
  • Gambling and mental health

She will also discuss the centre’s services and approaches to treatment. Her presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday, April 3, in room 351, Dillon Hall.
