Athletics and Recreational Services is holding a job fair Friday.
The Department of Athletics and Recreational Services has extended the operational hours of the Forge Fitness Centre and the St. Denis Centre pool.
The Lancer women’s hockey team will play its only night game of the year this Friday, January 18, facing off against the Laurier Golden Hawks at South Windsor Arena.
Laurier’s 16-1-2 record places it first in Ontario University Athletics; Windsor is fifth at 10-7-2.
Athletics staff has dubbed the match-up “Rivalry Night.” Marketing manager Eric Vandenbroucke says they are looking to get a big crowd out to support the Lancers.

Members of the University of Windsor faculty and staff—as well as their families—can attend Sunday’s Lancer basketball games free of charge.
U of W Family Appreciation Day will feature prizes and giveaways as well as match-ups between the Waterloo Warriors and Windsor’s nationally-ranked men’s and women’s basketball teams. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m. January 13 in the St. Denis Centre fieldhouse.
As she and her teammates warmed up for the 4x400m relay at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport national championship meet in Winnipeg this past March, says Nicole Sassine, “We tried not to think about what was at stake.”
The Lancer women were on the verge of winning their fourth straight national title, but Guelph was just a few points behind as the final event loomed.
Lifeguarding can fit perfectly into University life, especially when the pool is part of the University. It keeps students active in campus life and they can make a few extra bucks on the side.
The St. Denis Centre located on College Avenue prides itself on hiring strictly student lifeguards who keep coming back every year.
Alex Noble has returned for her third consecutive year lifeguarding at the St. Denis pool. She says the people bring her back every year.
About 200 people—former track teammates, coaches, professors, university officials, friends and family members—turned out at the St. Denis Centre on Friday to wish alumna Melissa Bishop (BHK 2010, B.Ed 2011) godspeed on the next leg of her journey to the London Olympics.
Bishop will compete in the 800 metre race after becoming just the third Canadian woman to beat the two-minute mark in the event.
Lancer track and field head coach Dennis Fairall said he was proud of Bishop, the first athlete he has personally coached to qualify for the Olympics in his 40-year career.
