Appointments fill executive vacancies

Daniella Beaulieu has accepted an appointment to the Office of the Provost as executive director, academic initiatives, beginning January 2021. Her move is part of a re-organization in the Office of the Provost following the vacancy created by Bev Hamilton’s departure to take on the role of chief of staff in the Office of the President.

Denice Shuker has accepted the position of interim executive director, academic and staff relations, in Human Resources effective Jan. 18, 2021. This portfolio includes the areas of responsibility currently held by Beaulieu.

Volunteers celebrate campus contributions to children’s charity

A reception Wednesday celebrated the contributions of the UWindsor community to the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society Foundation’s Adopt-a-Family program, which collects gifts for local families in need.

“The University’s assistance is immensely important,” said Tina Gatt, manager of community outreach at Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society. “This year, we helped 761 families, 41 of those sponsored by various departments at the University of Windsor. You have made a significant impact and brightened the holidays for those families.”

Checklist to help ensure events are accessible

A checklist developed by the Accessible Customer Service Committee and the Office of Human Rights, Equity and Accessibility will help event organizers ensure their meetings or activities are as inclusive as possible.

“The idea is that this checklist can be used when people plan an event, to provide them with ideas on making it accessible to everyone,” says Denice Shuker, accessibility and human rights manager. “We are hoping this will help to support decision-making and raise awareness on how to ensure everyone is included and can fully participate.”
