The process of discovery is a universally motivating factor and every time Alex Waugh and Sabrina Botsford learn something new, they’re a little more inspired to scratch deeper below the surface of their respective research subjects.
“It’s almost like a puzzle, and each and every little achievement you make makes you want to go deeper in to it,” said Botsford.
The High School Social Justice Forum held on campus Tuesday hit home for Madeline Doornaert.
“I learned how people were excluded from society through history,” she said as the day’s events wound down. “Someone close to me has a mental disability, and I really learned a lot about their situation.”
A video podcast of a lecture featuring engineering professor Rupp Carriveau and his predictions for what life will be like in Ontario in 2030 is now available on line.

“They’re fairly guarded about who they allow at their training centres,” said Michael Ayotte, a master’s student in sport management who recently travelled to the Olympic Training Centre in Lake Placid, New York.
Sorting through the University’s garbage can be a little disheartening, says Taylor Purdy.
A master’s student of environmental engineering, she combed through a pile of trash Friday outside the maintenance compound on Union Avenue, conducting an audit of the waste produced on campus.
“At least half of this could have been recycled,” Purdy said. “It’s especially sad because this pile comes from the Centre for Engineering Innovation, a LEED-certified building where we are not recycling like we could be.”
Amy Clements-Cortes, a music therapy instructor in UWindsor’s School for Arts and Creative Innovation, was praised as a “compassionate, optimistic and inspiring leader” during the presentation of her “Educator of Character” award from the York Region government Wednesday.

“We will have a photo booth that will allow people to immerse themselves in science,” says organizer Tazeen Ahmed, a third-year arts and science student majoring in biology. “They will be able to pick up a photographic print at our Science Rendezvous.”
Science Rendezvous, May 11 in the CAW Student Centre, promises a fun way to learn more about science.
