Windsor Welcome Week

Welcome Week not just for students, say organizers

Faculty and staff can help to make new students feel at home while gearing themselves up for the new school year by participating in Windsor Welcome Week activities, says organizer Soula Serra of the Educational Development Centre.

“First of all, we hope to get every office or department involved,” Serra says. “So if you have any material you would like us to distribute throughout the first week from the Welcome Tent, please drop off 200 to 500 flyers or items of swag to room 117, Dillon Hall by Thursday, August 30.”

Swedish electronic artist to headline student music festival

Saying the concert is about more than music, the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance announced Tuesday a preliminary line-up for its Coming Home Music Festival, scheduled for September 5 at Windsor’s riverfront festival plaza.

“The UWSA’s concert, like our university and our city, will be the best across the country because it will be about more than the music,” said Alyssa Atkins, the alliance’s vice-president administration. “This is about us … being more capable, innovative, and bold than anyone believed.”

Deadline approaching for welcome week event proposals

Event proposals for Windsor Welcome Week 2012 received after a deadline of Friday, July 6, may not be approved and definitely will not be included in the handbook, organizers warn.

Program orientation is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5. The Educational Development Centre asks that all programs submit their event plans for the day using the official proposal form.
