Robert Gaspar, an associate professor of mechanical, automotive, and materials engineering, will begin a one-year term as acting dean of the faculty of Engineering effective July 1, Provost Leo Groarke announced Friday.
"I am delighted that Dr. Gaspar has agreed to take on this role at this important time in the Faculty of Engineering," said Dr. Groarke. "There is a great deal of excitement about the new Centre for Engineering Innovation and new academic programs for students, and Bob will be able to keep this momentum going as we conduct the search for the next dean."
Graham Reader, who completes his second term as dean of engineering on June 30, has agreed to serve for one year as Special Advisor to the President, CEI Ambassador, for a one-year term. In this role, he will assist President Alan Wildeman and John Bergholz, Vice-President, University Advancement, with outreach in support of fundraising for the new CEI building.
"There is a great interest among alumni, industry partners and the broader community in what this new building can achieve for students and for our region", said Dr. Wildeman. "I am pleased that Graham is willing to bring his commitment to this project and his broad knowledge of the great research and teaching being done throughout the Faculty of Engineering to assist the university in this important effort."
