Windsor Engineering recognizes performance excellence

For being an inspiring instructor and the best mentor of students in the faculty, Vesselin Stoilov was one of the engineering professors honoured at a May reception.

The newly-established awards program recognizes the contributions of faculty and staff, says dean Mehrdad Saif, who plans to make it an annual tradition.

“The Medals of Excellence Award Ceremony is an excellent way to honour those who have excelled in their positions and celebrate their achievements,” he says. “Our greatest asset is our many dedicated faculty and staff.”

Recipients in each category were chosen from nominations submitted by department heads and colleagues.

Dr. Stoilov’s nominators called his relationship with students very important to him, noting he likes to see the “whites of their eyes” on a regular basis: “In the classroom, he creates an environment in which students can openly share their opinions, questions and concerns.”

Also awarded were professors Hanna Maoh and Daniel Green, for theirexcellence in research; Nader Zamani; Andrew Jenner; and the team of Paul Henshaw, Mitra Mirhassani, Ahmed Azab, Jacqueline Stagner and Randy Bowers, for their significant service.
