The University of Windsor seeks applications for the position of Head, Department of Psychology for a term of up to five (5) years, commencing July 1, 2026.  The candidate must hold a tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Windsor and must be qualified to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of Head as stipulated in Schedule A of Senate Bylaw 5.

Our campus is situated on the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations: the Ojibwa, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi.  We are making steady progress on the Indigenization of academic programming, an Indigenous Strategic plan, and a cohort hire of Indigenous faculty in 2018-19 followed by additional hiring.

Position details

The Department of Psychology is a dynamic environment. We are engaged in exciting and important scholarship and education across Bachelors, Masters, and PhD levels including both Clinical and Applied Social programs. The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (FAHSS) has 30 full-time faculty with broad research interests. We are searching for a scholarly leader who supports our commitment to research, education, and applied training, and can foster an environment of shared governance, collegial collaboration, and democratic participation across all four areas.

The successful candidate must have:

  • demonstrated commitment to shared governance, collegial collaboration, and democratic participation within the department; 
  • a clear vision for the future of the Department;
  • demonstrated commitment to classroom and student experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • demonstrated track record of peer reviewed publications in national and international peer reviewed journals and experience in attracting external research funding;
  • a vision for and commitment to supporting colleagues and fostering a healthy and collegial work environment; and
  • a commitment to supporting Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization and Indigenization initiatives within the department

Compensation:

Administrative Responsibility stipend: $8,500/year.  Please refer Article 31 - Rights, Duties and Responsibilities of Heads of the Collective Agreement with the Windsor University Faculty Association.

  • a letter of application, describing the applicant’s experience and preparedness to take on this role in regards to the criteria listed above including a statement describing the applicant’s continuing research program (up to 1 page) and a statement of teaching philosophy and academic program development experience (up to 1 page);;
  • a current electronic curriculum vitae (E-CV);
  • a vision for the future of the Department (up to 1 page);
  • a one-page statement of commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization and Indigenization;
  • two (2) contacts for references, with at least one (1) being internal to FAHSS. These referees will be contacted only for shortlisted candidates.
