Agriculture UWindsor is team of engineers, scientists, and sociologists committed to working on solutions for agricultural challenges. Partnering with local farmers, faculty, students, and the local community, experts build teams across subject matter and across industries to bring together people from research to innovation
Agriculture U-Windsor aims to progress agriculture at every step in the process, from the initial energy and production required, to the growing process, and finally the environmental and community level impact it has!

NEWS
THE NOSE KNOWS
Keeping the greenhouse sector on the cutting-edge, Dr. Alirezaee and PhD students are working to develop an 'electric nose'. This nose will aid in pest detection using gas sensors detecting volatile organic compounds.
Using this technology, earlier detection and intervention of pests can occur!

MRI IN AGRICULTURE
Dr. Dan Xiao is pushing boundaries of MRI and exploring applications for plant health and disease detection.
This technology is helping Ontario vegetable growers gain yields by providing insights into plant physiology.

BEE'S KNEES
The University of Windsor is contributing to the development of robotic bees to pollinate plants inside greenhouses. These robots can contribute to improved crop yield, quality, and food security overall by compensating for labour shortages and pollination deficiencies of live bees in this setting.
Dr. Shahpour Alirezaee from Windsor's Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering has developed a system to allow the robotic bees to travel to flowers and use vibrations to pollinate them.
The bees are currently being tested at the University of Windsor and Horteca, a two acre-research facility branching from JEM Farms.
