Team Breakdown

Executive Board

Outside of the general membership of our Team, UWSMRS is headed by an Executive Board to ensure the administrative aspects of our team are maintained. Please click here for more details on the Executive Board.

Committee Members

UWSMRS also has two Committee groups that assist the External Communications and Training Executive Board members. Please click here for more details on the Committee Members.

General Membership

Trainee Member (TM)

When an individual first joins our team, they are classified as a Trainee Member (TM). This is an individual who joins with Standard First Aid and CPR-BLS, but has not yet completed the First Responder (FR) training course.

Junior Medic (JM)

Once an individual successfully completes the First Responder (FR) course and receives their FR certificiation, they become Junior Medics (JM). JMs will always work with experienced members; typically a Field Training Officer. Members will remain as Junior Medics until the completion of their Senior Medic program.

Senior Medic (SM)

Senior Medics (SM) are our general membership. This is the standard for our team. An SM is an individual who has completed all the requirements of an EFR qualification and has successfully completed our internal training to evaluate the member's medical skills.

Field Training Officer in Training (FTOIT)

Once a member has completed their SM program, they can apply to become a Field Training Officer in Training (FTOIT). An FTOIT will work closely with FTOs to learn the responsibilities and roles of this position in addition to the required medical skills. Upon successful completion of this program, the member becomes a Field Training Officer.

Field Training Officer (FTO)

A Field Training Officer is the highest ranking on-call medic. They are the duty supervisor of a running shift. They ensure that proper procedure and safety are being practiced throughout the shift.
