UWindsor employees encouraged to host grade 9 students on November 1

On November 1, University of Windsor employees may bring up to two Grade 9 students to campus to participate in the Take Our Kids to Work Day program. Employees are encouraged to host their son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild or child of a friend or neighbour.

Take Our Kids to Work Day is an annual national program of the “Learning Partnership” in which Grade 9 students are hosted by parents, friends or relatives at workplaces across the country. This initiative enhances the student’s understanding of the realities of working life and supports them in exploration and planning of their career paths.

At the University, the program will offer students in Grade 9 a variety of planned group activities co-ordinated by various faculties and departments and the opportunity to job shadow their parent or host for a portion of the day. The detailed agenda can be found on the program website.

Employees who wish to bring a Grade 9 student to campus must complete the online registration form and submit a waiver signed by the child’s parent or guardian no later than October 23.

The Take Our Kids to Work Day initiative is co-ordinated by the Department of Human Resources and made possible by the generous contributions of campus partners and sponsors.
