Applicants to the BFA Acting program must successfully pass an audition. For students wishing to enter the program in September 2012, the audition dates are as follows:

Windsor: March 3 & 4, 2012
Toronto: March 15, 16, 17 & 18, 2012
Vancouver: March 24, 2012

Application Process

Acting applicants must apply to the University of Windsor, usually through the Ontario Universities Application Centre. The BFA Acting Program must be specified as one of your program choices.

Applicants must then complete the Application Form for BFA Acting Audition. Specific instructions on other requirements, such as personal references, photographs, and an audition fee, are included on the form.

The Audition

On the day of the audition, please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to move and participate. Wear soft-soled shoes with a low heel. Do NOT wear jeans or other tight, restrictive clothing.

Candidates are asked to memorize and prepare two monologues. Each monologue should be approximately 1 minute in length. One monologue should be by a character from a play by Shakespeare. The other monologue should be by a character from a published modern or contemporary play. The monologues should contrast with one another.

As part of the audition process, you will learn and present a movement sequence. The audition will also include physical and vocal warm-ups, a cold reading, and improvised scene.

Free Audition Workshop

In preparation for your audition, the School of Dramatic Art offers a free audition workshop in November, designed to help you prepare for the Spring entrance auditions. Workshops are held in the Jackman Dramatic Art Centre at the University of Windsor.

The workshop will be held on November 26, 2011, with both morning and afternoon sessions available.
