The campus-wide power shutdown that had been scheduled for June 24 has been postponed until 2013, with no exact date set yet.

High voltage work will require the complete cut-off of electricity from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, in the following buildings:

  • Lambton Tower
  • Erie Hall
  • University Computer Centre
  • Faculty of Education Gym
  • 470, 478, 484 and 496 Sunset Avenue.

Some network services will be impacted during this planned power outage.

Network access from campus buildings with power outages will not be available due to the local and wireless networks being down.

Access from outside the University should remain at least partially available. IT Services is expecting that the following services will remain operational:

  • the CLEW system;
  • myUwindsor Student Portal;
  • Faculty/staff e-mail access;
  • Student Webmail;
  • the Academic and Research Computer (ARC1);
  • the Student Information System (SIS);
  • the Financial Information System (FIS);
  • all administrative systems including eCV and eGrade;
  • some Web pages will be unavailable. This includes some faculty and research group Web sites. Most Web sites, however, will be available;
  • telephone services including voice mail and most phones on campus (except for VoIP phones);
  • Smartphone e-mail services (Blackberry, iPhone, Android, etc.) .

Items not listed may not be available for some time before, during and after the period of the campus power interruption while some internal electrical work within the University Computer Centre is also performed on this day.
