Sociology, Anthropology & Criminology at the University of Windsor
The Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Criminology is a part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (FAHSS).
We offer many undergraduate programs to choose from, such as general BA degrees, Honours BA degrees, combined programs and minors.
Our Department's graduate programs offer opportunities to complete a MA in Sociology, MA in Criminology and a PhD in Sociology.
In Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology, we are supporting the expansion of the Bystander Initiative, a signature program at the University of Windsor that offers peer education in sexual violence prevention to first year students through a three-hour workshop. The breadth of the Bystander Initiative is unique to the University of Windsor and its strengths include working actively with men as well as women, and developing student leadership skills as they train to be workshop facilitators. In 2018-2019 for the first time, every first year student will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop, with a $50 UWin gift card as added incentive. We encourage faculty who teach first year students to participate by encouraging students to register for workshops, and in some cases integrating them into their classes. The Bystander Initiative has created a Blackboard information hub for instructors who want to learn more about how to support this work. We can also visit your classes to help explain what we do and how students can get involved.
To find out more, to request a classroom visit, or to be added to the Blackboard site, contact the Bystander Initiative coordinator Emily Rosser at firstname.lastname@example.org or extension 2326.
