Lab Glass

Broken or non‑recyclable lab glass—such as glass pipettes, test tubes, slides, empty vials, and other laboratory glassware—must be placed in a clearly labeled “Broken Glass” or “Waste Glass” bin lined with a clear trash bag. Bins must not be overfilled and may not contain chemicals, residues, plastics, sharps, light bulbs, or any hazardous waste. Lab glass collection bins are available from custodial staff. Once full, place the sealed bin beside the regular trash bin for custodial pickup.

Brown 4 L solvent bottles purchased through the CCC can be recycled once they are completely free of chemical residue. This typically requires triple rinsing and/or air‑drying the bottle in a fume hood. Deface the label by marking an “X” or writing “EMPTY” to show the bottle has been cleaned. Return the cleaned, empty bottles to the CCC for recycling.
