Facility Services has ceased the flow of cooling water to campus buildings for the winter and advises students, faculty and staff to dress appropriately for changing environmental conditions.
“We have a major project at the riverfront plant and need to get started now if we’re going to meet our spring deadline for completion,” says Kevin Desmarais, lead hand in the Energy Conversion Centre.
“We hope the lack of air conditioning doesn’t provide too great an inconvenience and will try to address any real problems by directing outside air through buildings.”
Variable temperatures make this time of year tricky for heating and cooling engineers. Some spaces may get too warm while others are too cold – and it is difficult to accommodate individual preferences.
Layering clothing such as sweaters and jackets allows individuals to adjust to differing conditions.
Concerns regarding heating, cooling, malfunctioning thermostats and the like should be reported to Maintenance Dispatch at 519-253-3000, ext. 2850, Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Outside of normal business hours, please contact the engineer on duty at ext. 7027.
