Do you know someone who has made a difference?
The Rick Hansen Difference Maker Team will recognize individuals who have made a significant impact in the area of accessibility, researchers who have advanced discoveries related to spinal cord injuries, community leaders and youth who have put “service above self” to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of others.
The team invites members of the University of Windsor community to nominate individuals or teams of persons in our community who fit this description for recognition during the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay.
The relay began in August in Newfoundland and is retracing the Canadian portion of the original Man In Motion World Tour, travelling westward across the country over nine months before concluding in Vancouver in May. However, this time, the one “man in motion” will be represented and celebrated by “many in motion,” engaging 7,000 participants from across Canada who have made their own difference in the lives of others.
Difference maker nominations must be submitted no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, October 21, to ohrea@uwindsor.ca.
- The submission must be a description – no longer than three paragraphs – of how the individual or team is a “difference maker,” and must include the nominee’s name, age, contact phone number and e-mail address, and a photo.
- Nominees may be individuals, a team of persons who work together to make a difference, a youth, a parent, a teacher, a nurse, a researcher, or a person who lives life to the fullest while managing challenges associated with physical or other disabilities.
- Those individuals selected as difference makers must be willing to sign a waiver for use of their stories and photos as event promotion and on-site materials, and must be available to media and willing to participate in lead-up interviews.
